In June 2015, The Glenrothes organized a special series of tasting events around Vietnam – from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.
Founded in Scotland in 1879, The Glenrothes has always been universally acclaimed by blenders as exceptional Speyside Single Malt Whisky. Only 2% of what is distilled each year, the very finest quality – becomes a Glenrothes vintage. Only a small number of vintages have been released. Each vintage is, by definition, rare and fine, with its own unique taste and personality.
All the tasting events were hosted by Mr. Luigi Barzini – Sales Manager, Southeast Asia at Berry Bros. & Rudd, London’s oldest wine and spirit merchant and the owner of The Glenrothes. VIP guests – mostly whisky connoisseurs – spent few enjoyable evenings tasting different vintages of The Glenrothes Whisky: from Vintage Reserve to 2001, 1998, and 1995 Vintages. Fine food and premium cigars were a perfect supplement, while Mr. Luigi was sharing his knowledge about the story behind whisky in general, The Glenrothes, as well as was leading guests through each vintage tasting note.
The highlight of the evenings was tasting of The Glenrothes Single Cask 1969 which makes quite an impression with its rich, fruity flavor, beautifully balanced licorice and barley sugar with the texture of raw silk and long, lingering finish. On top of that The Glenrothes 1969 also comes with a beautiful packaging, each whisky decanter was hand-blown, and the outer case is hand-crafted leather. This unique Single Malt edition is very limited: the cask ultimately yielded just 133 bottles worldwide, and only 5 bottles left in Asia.
